Build your own cooking journal

Allyson Gofton’s Recipe Journal, by Allyson Gofton (Penguin, RRP $35):

We all have our favourite recipes and have collected favourite recipes from family and friends over the years so this book is something I’m sure every home cook would find useful: it’s a collection of more than 40 recipes from the author herself, compiled in the form of a journal that allows space for the owner to add in their own favourites.

This clever little package is divided into poultry, meat, seafood, vegetables, sweet and miscellaneous categories and each section also includes little pockets to hold all those loose clippings we tend to have from magazines and so on.

How often have you scribbled down a recipe from a friend only to lose track of the piece of paper by the time you got around to trying your hand at it yourself?

This book will save you from yourself.

Even more clever is the section at the very end of the book where you can record a list of your other favourite recipes in other books, the name of the book and the page.

If you’re still not convinced that you need to buy this book, the Crunchie Bar ice cream recipe should do it.
