■ REVIEW: Shooting the Moon
Latest book lives up to expectations

Following on from the award-winning Juggling With Mandarins, Christchurch author V M Jones’ latest novel picks up the story of 14-year-old Pip McLeod.

The teen faced up to some tough challenges in the first book and now it seems his life is finally his own.

However, beneath the tranquil surface things are bubbling away.

A visit to the wilderness with his father for the traditional first McLeod hunting trip means he must confront the issues of life and death and learns what matters most of all.

The author’s first two novels have each won NZ Post junior fiction awards and this one is certainly showing the same quality.

  1. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one these days..
