Not Kernick’s best but still a good read

February 6, 2012

The Payback, by Simon Kernick (Bantam Press, RRP $40):

Once again, author Simon Kernick promises and delivers a fast-paced thriller.

Ex-cop Dennis Milne is a man with a past that involves murder. Milne has earned his living killing the bad guys who, in his opinion, deserve to die.

Now he is in Manila, awaiting word on his next target.

Detective Tina Boyd is also in Manila, on the trail of the man she believes is responsible for the death of her boyfriend. And she needs to find him and kill him, before he kills her.

This tale of two renegade cops isn’t the best of Simon Kernick’s books but it’s still a good read in this genre.
