If, like me, you’re not particularly good at identifying plants, this is the book for you.
Artist-writer Dave Gunson has a nice touch with the illustrations, giving enough detail to make it easy for the reader to pinpoint what they are looking at but not so much detail that it gets confusing.
Great for a novice like me. Oh, and for the six to nine-year-olds this book is aimed at.
It’s more than just illustrations, though.
The book is written in an easy-to-follow and quite light-hearted way and actually manages to make fun of the whole plant identification thing (no mean feat when it comes to someone like me).
There are plenty of facts scattered throughout this wee gem but its real strength is that it’s all wrapped up in a fun way.
I had fun and I learned something that has to be good value.
