Homicide cops Franco Patrese and Mark Beradino are called to a double murder in a rough neighbourhood and while it initially seems they’ve got the killer things aren’t always as simple as they seem.
In a much more wealthy part of town, another body lies charred, then a priest is set alight in a confessional.
The increasingly shocking murders continue to be committed by what is surely a psychopath on a vendetta and the ensuing investigation uncovers everything from high-class hookers to religious obsession.
From what I can find online, this is the debut novel of author Daniel Blake and it’s a pretty good effort, with well-rounded characters who feel very real. The interaction between the two cops is believable and the story is certainly compelling.
