The story flicks backwards and forwards between various main players in the drama but at no time does it get confusing or disjointed. In fact, the author uses the technique almost as a literary cliffhanger in the tradition of Dallas and the whole who-shot-JR plot.
The climax of the story comes without the usual need to tie up loose ends and make everything pretty that so often destroys a good yarn.
