■ REVIEW: The Accidental Renovator
Unexpectedly fun read

Aussie author Barbara Biggs continues to recount the story of her life in this latest book.

While she had a truly awful start to life, being sold to a paedophile at the age of 14 and being admitted to a psychiatric hospital two years later, Biggs overcame her early challenges to become a happy, successful woman.

Her first two books cover her life from teen years to 40. This one finds our heroine in Paris, where she accidentally buys an apartment. As you do.

What follows is a comedy of errors involving a grumpy Aussie builder, confusing French bureaucracy, good friends, truly strange strangers and a bath to end all baths.

The Accidental Renovator, by Barbara Biggs (Sly Ink, $29.95)
