Lots of twists … and spiders

Say Goodbye, by Lisa Gardner (Orion, RRP $25.99):

The latest in a series of action-packed novels featuring FBI special agent Kimberly Quincy, Say Goodbye lives up to the hype of Lisa Garnder’s earlier novels and manages to inject more than a few jarring moments and unexpected twists along the way.

No one seems to notice the disappearance of numerous young women, writing them off as runaways, prostitutes or high-risk teens.

But Kimberly, who is pregnant and has promised her husband she will be taking it easy, notices and in trying to find these missing girls, she is pulled in to chasing a serial killer with a taste for spiders.

If you’re new to the Kimberly Quincy stories, there are parts of this book that will leave you feeling a wee bit out of touch and quite conscious of the fact that you are reading one book in a series. However, those moments are fleeting and certainly not enough to deter me from recommending this book.

Human trafficking, murder and spiders … this one’s got it all.
