Formulaic? Yes … but still entertaining

Private No 1 Suspect, by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro (Century, RRP $38):

Another easy-to-read collaboration from the king of quick reads: James Patterson.

Former United States Marine Jack Morgan owns Private, what has become the world’s foremost investigation firm. It is used by the rich and famous, and by the infamous, to handle indiscretions as discreetly as possible.

In this story, Jack himself becomes the prime suspect when his ex-lover is found murdered in his bed and while under investigation and trying to clear his own name, he ends up on a job for the mob.

Throw in big money deals, a beautiful woman and more than a few twists and you have classic Patterson.

Yes, sometimes it’s a little formulaic but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an entertaining read.
