Midnight Sun, by Jo Nesbo: Jon is on the run after being betrayed by Oslo’s biggest crime lord in the latest thriller (published November 2 by Harvill Secker, RRP $28) from Jo Nesbo.

Dark Corners, by Ruth Rendell: This  dark and sinister novel of psychological suspense is Ruth Rendell’s final book (available from November 2, published by Hutchinson, RRP $37).

NON-FICTION

In the Rough, by Steve Williams: High-profile Kiwi caddy Steve Williams shares stories from his years working with some of the world’s top golfers, including Tiger Woods, Greg Norman, Adam Scott and Raymond Floyd. Published on November 2 by Penguin (RRP $40).

Notes from the Velvet Underground: The Life of Lou Reed, by Howard Sounes: Respected biographer Howard Sounes examines the life and work of Lou Reed, his fascinating man, from birthto death, including his time as the leader of The Velvet Underground – one of the most important bands in rock’n’roll. Published on November 2 by Doubleday (RRP $40).

Simply Nigella: Feel Good Food Nigella Lawson: A calm celebration of food from Nigella Lawson (published on November 2 by Chatto & Windus, RRP $65) to soothe and uplift with recipes that are uncomplicated, relaxed and yet always satisfying. Impressions, evocations and recollections of the way life was and is today. All set within the spectacular hills, rivers and big skies of Central Otago. This collection includes prose and poetry and illustrated throughout with stunning photographs by Steve Calveley. Available from November 2 (Random House NZ, RRP $45).

Date Like a Dude, by Sam Pease: Flagged as the ultimate guide to dating, this books has her tales of dating mishaps and some unconventional wisdom. The author claims to have 1000 dates under her belt, along with numerous marriage proposals. Even if you’re not in the market for a bloke, it sounds like it could be a giggle. Published by Random House (RRP $30), it’s due to hit the stores on December 1 so might be a good gift for that friend/sibling/workmate who always seems to date losers!
