Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss

March 2 marks 113 years since the birth of the inimitable Theodor Seuss Geisel, who of course found fame with his pen-name, Dr Seuss.

He died in 1991 but his legacy lives on in the well-loved books that have entertained generations of readers and changed the way children’s books were written. He continues to inspire and there is no doubt, he will feature on the bookshelves and e-readers of children for generations to come.

In Katroo, every year, on the day you were born

They start the day right in the bright early morn

When the Birthday Honk-Honker hikes high up Mt. Zorn

and lets loose a big blast on the big Birthday Horn.

And the voice of the horn calls out loud as it plays:

“Wake up! For today is your Day of all Days!”

— Happy Birthday to You!
