The secrets of secret societies

The Secret Societies Handbook,
by Michael Bradley Cassell (distributed by Reed Publishing, $19.99):

Over the years, elite secret clubs have fascinated society as much as they have influenced it.

Author Michael Bradley takes a look at what he calls the hidden story behind our economic and political hierarchy. He traces the roots of 21 secret societies and claims to have new evidence concerning arcane rituals, ties to the occult, a Vatican-blessed cult and sinister plans to reduce the world’s population.

You’ll find background on everything from Freemasons to the Ku Klux Klan, with the Mafia thrown in for good measure.

It’s an interesting mix and the book itself is sure to provoke controversy.

There will always be doubts and suspicions about any secret society — as human beings we don’t trust what we don’t understand.

However, being excluded isn’t enough to convince me there’s a conspiracy. Besides, I might just start my own secret club.
