A recommended light read

The Girl in the Yellow Vest,

by Loretta Hill (Bantam Australia, RRP $37):

Perth based romance novelist Loretta Hill has degrees in Civil Engineering and in Commerce. She has also worked in the Australian outback on engineering projects.

This is her third major novel based on her experiences as an engineer in out of the way places. The setting is a huge wharf project near the Great Barrier Reef.

Our heroine, a second year Engineering graduate, has moved from a boring job in Sydney where she has just been dumped by her long term boyfriend, to work with a mutual friend on said project. What she doesn’t know is that her very platonic friend has always had feelings for her and now is his chance to maybe make a move. There is also a possible secondary romance between the landlady where the FIFO workers are staying and their very uncompromising, unfriendly boss.

An extremely enjoyable light read. Recommended.
